Why should I consider Sepomo micro payments?
We believe that our micro payments system satisfies 3 basic requirements.

Firstly, many sites need revenue sources in order to survive and improve their offering. Currently, this is achieved via publicity and/ or subscription of some kind. Publicity is often intrusive and inappropriate for the users, and the methods of payment collection (eg credit card, bank transfers) are often disliked by users, or inefficient for small amounts.

Secondly, many users enjoy the anonymity that internet use offers. However sites often ask for personal information to help extract value from reselling the customer base or qualifying their own customer base for potential advertisers. This method of "payment" is like being asked to fill out a form with personal details whenever you go to the newsagent to buy a newspaper ,and then suffer almost endless publicity for each column inch of "quality" content. We believe that this method is probably right for some sites but not most.

Thirdly, our research and experience shows that people are prepared to pay small amounts for content so long as
(1) they get what they expect
(2) they are charged what they expect and
(3) there are no "hidden" costs that they are unaware of
We satisfy these three precepts with our payment system.

Who is it targeted at?

Our target customers include :

  • Sites that offer downloads such as games, dating contacts, videos, technical advice, timely information and all manner of content that is not freely and easily available anywhere on the web.
  • Subscription sites. Sites that charge for an annual subscription, for example, can now offer customers a daily option.
  • Sites that wish to differentiate their service between paying and non paying users, eg. a download site that offers faster download speed for paying customers.
  • The internet channel of established "bricks and mortar" providers. Companies that had hoped to generate new revenues on top of their existing streams, but failed to see them materialise during the internet boom, can now begin to focus on those same propositions but with targetted customers and content.
  • Sites that wish to offer a payment channel as a means to upgrade to full paying users. Often customers resist payment due to lack of experience or confidence with the site. The Sepomo micro payment solution allows those customers a low cost entry point for content services, that can be built upon as their relationship with the site grows.

If I charge for content, will I lose my users?

Not necessarily, although of course it is possible if it isn't done without a well thought through strategy. For example, insisting that everyone pays before even seeing a portal is a mistake, as is charging for things that are freely available from other sites, eg. delayed share prices or news headlines. Also, it is very sensible to choose those services that are most valued by your customers first, then work your way down through less popular services until you reach a point where people aren't prepared to pay.

You will almost certainly lose some customers if you start charging, but with good planning this will be minimised. On balance, moving towards charging for specific content is the right step for many sites.

Finally, if you would like some ideas on your own site, feel free to contact and we will be happy to take a look and offer some suggestions.

How do I sign up ?

We've made the process of signing up for our system as easy as we possibly could. You can fill out your details online, or if you prefer, you can print out the form and send it to us by fax, or you can ask for someone to call you, or you can call us. Click here to go to the sign on section.

What are the terms?

Click here to view our standard terms. Sepomo does not charge a sign up fee, and we offer free technical support to customers to aid integration of our platform into their site. Once the system is up and running, we charge only a small commission per message. There is no fixed fee, and we do not insist on a mimimum level of business. Above 10,000 messages a month we ask that you get in touch with us to negotiate an individual offer to meet your particular needs.

At the end of each month we check the number of messages and calculate the commissions due to each customer. When the account reaches a minimum of 100 pounds sterling, we transfer the total accumulated into your bank account. You have the ability to check the messages in your account in real time via our online logs. The payment will be made no more than 10 days after we receive the payment from the mobile operators.

Security

A fundamental design requirement of the system has been adopted to ensure that bypassing the payment mechanism is exceptionally difficult. Potential customers who require reassurance on these matters should contact us and we will be happy to explain in more detail.
